Winemaking - At our post vintage tasting of the 2012 reds,
one small parcel of Mataro stood head and shoulders above
its fellows and competed very strongly alongside our best
Shiraz parcels. It was an easy decision to give it the Tin Shed
treatment - the best one year old and new French barrels,
lees stirring and continual mollycoddling. As the next couple
of years passed the wine got stronger and stronger and the
decision was easy…
it had to be bottled as our first single vineyard straight Mataro.
The fruit was dry grown from an old vine block in the Moppa
sub-region of the Barossa and justifies why we love Mataro!

Tasting Note

Colour - Bright purple/crimson

Nose - Black fruit, perfume and earthy complexity with an
almost savoury lift that the best Old Mataro vines produce.
There are also subtle hints of vanilla that only the special
French oak can provide

Palate - Black fruits, forest floor and vanilla with a strong
textural element. A very stylish, elegant showcase of the best
old Mataro vines can do. Tight and savoury mouthfeel with
great balance and complexity

Only 4 barrels made
